Roses are the most popular and classic type of flowers that have a very long history. With over 30 000 varieties all over the world, we want to offer you a list of the most common types that you will encounter at our shop.

Ecuadorian Roses

Ecuadorian roses, also regarded as the best type in the world, gained international popularity for their size, quality, appearance, and a long vase life. They grow in one of the most unique places in the world. Ecuador’s high altitude locations and diverse geographical location provides perfect conditions for optimal rose growth.

Flowers receive more sunlight during the day, and grow at an elevation of 2800-3000 meters above sea level. Since the elevation is higher, they take longer time to develop their stems, making them one of the most beautiful long-stemmed flowers in the world.

Ecuadorian roses come in several different colors and have a longer vase life than any other type in the world. This makes them stand out on the floral market.

You will encounter pink, red, white, lavender and even mixed colored hues. Most of the single headed roses we use in our bouquets are from Ecuador. You can see Dutch variety roses from Ecuador on our shop page.

Scented Roses

Scented roses, also known as the fragrant ones, are adored for their smell. These types of flowers produce a wide range of scents, starting from strong, sweet to subtle, and spicy, adding a new sensory dimension to bouquets, or floral arrangements. There are several fragrance categories; these include citrus, spicy, fruity, myrrh, tea rose, and old rose.

Scented flowers are also a common gift. At Lovely Roses, we have Austin, Garden Rose, O'Hara, and other sweet-smelling varieties. Since fragrance is considered to be a more subjective experience, they are considered to be more personal. Different individuals have varying preferences for scents that they find more appealing, therefore scented flowers are considered to be more of an intimate gift. Here are some scented roses that we have most often.

David Austin Roses

David Austin Roses are a distinctive group of flowers bred by a British rose breeder, David C.H. Austin (1926-2018). They are also known as English roses and for their combination of classic beauty with modern elements. They have a unique fragrance, wide-variety of colors, and classic old charm.

These romantically stunning flowers, available in various colors such as red, yellow, peach, white, apricot, and multi-colored blooms, boast a unique "Old New Rose" look and larger size. We exclusively import David Austin breeds from Holland for special orders, often catering to weddings.

Tinted Roses

Tinted roses can be either imported from Ecuador or we can color them ourselves. In the latter case the color will be not as intense but the flowers will last longer. We usually use one of the two breeds of the white roses for this - Mondial or Vandella. Visit this page for the tinted blue roses.

Spray Roses

Most of the spray roses are unscented and come in multiple colors, just like the standard ones. The most distinct characteristic of these are their size.

They are small and have multiple blooms per stem. Because of their size, often they are called miniature or sweetheart ones.

These are the most commonly gifted flowers. They are loved by both florists and our customers, because of their big volume and simplicity. They are gifted on holidays that celebrate love, such as Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, birthdays, and are particularly popular for the bridal bouquets.
