General Description
Despite the large selection of flowers in the Georgian market, there are still some varieties of flowers that are more popular, for example, roses and lilacs. Along with them, one of the most frequently requested flowers is the myosotis. Forget-me-nots are herbaceous plants with tiny blue flowers and a yellow heart, sometimes with white or pink petals. The petals are small, each a maximum of 5-10 mm. They often grow in swamps, forests, and alpine areas, so their sizes are small. The average height of forget-me-not is 10-15 centimeters. They begin to flower in May and enjoy a 2-month hibernation. Despite this, their demand is greater in the autumn and winter season.
Do you have forget-me-nots?
No, it's important for our store that the flower that goes to the receiver is durable and of high quality. Considering that the local forget-me-nots are rather fragile and soon wither, we refrain from selling them. You can see our full catalog here.
Viability
You can often meet them in pots: on balconies, windows, etc. It is a very tender flower, without soil or pot, its life span is a maximum of 1 day. Therefore, you will only sometimes see them in compositions, bouquets, or decor with other cut flowers
What Should We Know Before Buying
As we mentioned, forget-me-nots are rather tender flowers, which do not have good durability. If you decide to buy them, because of their symbolism, you should consider that the local variety only lasts a day and can go stale within hours of being given. If you want the bouquet to make the recipient's days more enjoyable, we recommend choosing a more durable flower, but if you still want to but them, perhaps the best alternative is to buy potted forget-me-nots or Dutch imported ones, but of course they also has its disadvantages, for example: despite that they are more durable than local ones, even imported ones cannot last more than 3-4 days and do not have a stem longer than 15-20 cm, also you need to pre-order 7-10 days in advance. Besides that, they have a rather high price. The minimum order quantity from the Netherlands is 50 stems and each costs 5-6 GEL.
Symbolism
This flower is popular because of its symbolism, which comes from a medieval legend that tells of a French knight who was walking along a river with his beloved. At that moment he saw a small blue flower and bent down to pick it up, at that moment he lost his balance on the horse and fell into the river before he was gone forever, he threw the flower at his lady and shouted: "D not forget me". After that, this flower became a symbol of eternal love. Also because of its name, it has become popular as a parting gift not only among couples but also among loved ones.
